be a good quitter

This might be one of the most controversial topics and it is very much possible the reader might not agree by a far distance with the views mentioned below. I would be more than happy to know what different views do the readers have and the reason for their disagreement. Comments section is all yours!

While doing any assignment; be it in your personal or professional life, it is very important that you know you are doing the right thing. This might seem very obvious but majority of the people fall in the trap of pacifying the people around at their own cost. Does not matter whether you are a student, a businessman or a corporate officer. If you don’t feel happy or satisfied with what you are doing, QUIT! Quitting is perceived as a very negative word by the society. The moment you say you are quitting; you are bound to face raised eyebrows and sarcastic grins. It makes little difference. Do what you want to do. Do what makes you feel alive. For every person who faces “Monday Blues”, I am sorry but you are in the wrong place. I agree a break is necessary but if you go to bed on a Sunday night thinking how good would it be if the sun does not rise next morning, you need to pause and reflect upon what you are doing. If you conclude that this feeling is momentary and is because of the excess workload you are under, you are walking in the right direction. If you get the same feeling week after week, think about quitting.

NEVER GIVE UP IS A MYTH. It is just not possible that the decisions you take fall in place from the very first time. To err is human. It is alright to make mistakes and blunders but it is extremely important to take them in your stride and keep your life flowing. At no point should you feel that your life has come to a standstill or it has stagnated. If you feel that you are stuck up in a particular line or a particular profession, it is absolutely okay to quit that line and jump onto another path which may have you interested. It is never too late to quit. It is never too late for a student to quit a particular stream and go to another stream. Similarly, it is never too late for a working professional to quit his job and take up another job or follow his passion. Quitters are seen as losers by the society. If they quit one job and perform exceedingly well in another job, society would still bother him about the job he quit and how easily he accepted defeat to that situation, or a student would have to go through the same taunts time and again because he quit a field where he was never comfortable.

What is important is the time you quit. Quitting is easy but make sure you don’t quit because it is easy. Before you quit, think twice if you are really misfit in that place. Think if you have given your everything and you have left no stone unturned in order to avoid quitting. If you manage to answer all these questions, there is absolutely nothing wrong if you quit. If you have the term “never give up” in your mind, you might be stuck up in a place where you are not meant to be and you might end up missing on what you actually should be doing.

But while you quit make sure to quit on a high. This means while quitting, don’t have hard feelings for your boss or your employer. He has been doing this work for years; it was you who didn’t fit into his working. It isn’t his fault. Keep good contacts with people from the place where you are quitting. You never know you might need anyone’s help at any time. If you are at good terms with everybody, it might help you a great deal in your next venture.

  1. I really want to agree with this, but there are times where you have given something so much efforts that it has consumed you. Also, there is this fear that what if I am making a bad decision, what if I am having a rough patch, what if I am just too easily bored. And lastly sometimes you have exhausted your financials and taking up another profession seems quite an expensive affair!
